Black History Month Patch
By acknowledging the diversity, heritage, and contributions of our multicultural communities, Girl Scouts can find new ways to make the world a better place for everyone.
So, for the month of February, which is Black History Month in the U.S., we honor the incredible contributions, the Black and African American communities have made throughout U.S. history — from civil rights leaders to artists, politicians to inventors. Take this opportunity to learn more about this community’s central role in U.S. history and the world.
Girl Scouts can join in on learning during Black History Month and earn this multicultural patch by stopping by the GSSI Shop to learn about the Underground Railroad in Indiana, learn about Shirley Chisholm (the first Black woman to be elected to the United States Congress), and take a home a recipe for cornbread, a tasty bread with more history than you may think.
World Thinking Day 2025 Award
Each year on February 22, Girl Scouts and Girl Guides from over 150 countries celebrate World Thinking Day. You don’t need to wait until February to get started on earning 2025's World Thinking Day Award though! Start learning about World Thinking Day now and embrace perspectives outside your own. Dive into this year’s focus of “Our Story: Reflecting the symbolism and values of our Movement” and explore how you can build the confidence to know you can make a real difference, in your community and beyond. Think about the issues that contribute to problems near or far, and about the little things you can do to make a big difference!
Girl Scouts can celebrate World Thinking Day by stopping by the GSSI Shop to learn how to sing the World Song (the song from WAGGGS for Girl Guides & Girl Scouts), discover some local multi-cultural organizations, and more!
Girl Scout Way Badge and Girl Scout Week
March is Women's History Month, but Girl Scout Week also takes place during this month! So, all month long, Girl Scouts that are Brownies up to Ambassadors are invited to come to the GSSI Shop on Fridays to work on their Girl Scout Way Badge, and then from March 10–14, Girl Scouts of all ages are invited to the Shop to celebrate Girl Scout Week with special activities, together!
For the Girl Scout Way Badge, girls will learn about Girl Scout traditions, share activities, and join together in song (the World Song) to feel the Girl Scout spirit that is over a century strong. By the end of the badge work, girls will know how to use the Girl Scout way and our traditions to make the world a better place!
For Girl Scout Week, all Girl Scouts are invited to the GSSI Shop to participate in this special week by making SWAPS for each other, coloring a Flat Juliette, and learning about some of the special days that take place during this week, like Girl Scout Jummah and Shabbat.
April is Volunteer Appreciation Month, so let's brighten a Girl Scout volunteer's day by saying thank you! Our GSSI volunteers deserve to be celebrated for their creativity, care, and dedication, so we've got some fun and creative ways for you to show your gratitude this month:
