The Pillowcase Project for Brownies & Juniors

Grades: 2-5
This is a preparedness education program that teaches girls about personal and family preparedness and safety skills, local hazards, and basic coping skills. Volunteers will lead girls through “Learn, Practice, Share” frameworks to teach them about disaster preparedness and survival skills. Be Red Cross Ready Program

This program teaches simple steps to follow in advance to ensure that girls and their families can weather a crisis safely and comfortably. Girls will learn to build a survival kit, make a plan, and understand the disasters that are likely to happen in their area.

Community Service Bar Volunteer Opportunity with the American Red Cross

Volunteering with the American Red Cross allows girls to support the largest humanitarian organizations in the world while making a positive impact on their peers and their community. Girls can learn new skills, maximize talent, meet new people, improve their resumes, and earn the Community Service Bar Pin while making a difference in the lives of others. One Love engages young people with powerful films and honest conversation. Through their workshops and peer-to-peer discussions, One Love offers a framework that helps students spread the message online and in their communities. One Love educates young people about healthy and unhealthy relationships, empowering them to identify and avoid abuse and learn how to love better. The programs give students the tools to recognize the warning signs of abuse, understand the difference between healthy and unhealthy relationships, and help to empower bystanders.

Santa Claus Museum & Village Interactive Tour
Pay a visit to the historic, 1935 Santa Claus Statue. Stop by the Original Santa Claus Post Office, where girls can sit at antique school desks and pen their letters to Santa. Make sure to tour the stunning 1880 Santa Claus Church. And stop by the Santa Claus Museum to read children’s letters to Santa dating back to the 1930s. You may take a photo at the new Santa Claus mural on the front of the building and visit Santa’s Museum Office. Don’t forget to do some shopping in the museum gift shop for a souvenir of your visit!

Girls will create a crochet coaster and learn fundamental skills of crochet. Instructor will provide you with engaging instruction, a hook, darning needle, yarn, pattern, stitch marker, and printed stitch guides. Class time is approximately 2 hours.
