Join GSSI at Stars and Sacred Spaces with Angel Mounds to learn more about one of Indiana’s ancient cities and the stars above!
 

At this event with Angel Mounds State Historic Site, Girl Scouts will go on a walking tour of the mounds and museum, create a craft (Daisies & Brownies will make pinch pots, Juniors & Cadettes will craft corn husk dolls, and Seniors & Ambassadors will weave baskets), and later in the evening, learn about the stars.

📅 WHEN: Saturday, July 11 | 4-6 PM CT, 8:30-10 PM CT | Optional Overnight

💲 COST: $10 per Girl Scout | $20 campsite reservation fee per troop ( + $2.50 processing fee)
Cost includes materials and a patch, with optional overnight camping in the newly refurbished camping area (Girl Scout Mesa Compton’s Gold Award Project).

⚠️ DEADLINE: Register by June 29

‼️ REQUIREMENTS: Troops MUST provide their own adult ratio at the event. If staying overnight, troops MUST have both a volunteer certified in First Aid/CPR and another certified in Overnights, Trips, & Travel, Fire Building & Basic Outdoor Skills, and Troop Camp Training. If you have Daisies camping, they MUST be accompanied by their parent or guardian in order to stay overnight. All participants MUST fill out an Event Permission form by July 3 in order to attend.

Program Details:

  • 4-6 PM CT: tour of the museum, mounds, and a craft: order will be different for each age level, split into 3 groups: Daisy/Brownie, Junior/Cadette, and Senior/Ambassador
  • 6-8:30 PM CT: Free time/break for troops to have dinner and/or set up camp
  • 8:30-10 PM CT: Stargazing activities
