Complete a Journey virtually with Girl Scouts from across the country!

Daisy, Brownie, and Junior Girl Scouts are invited to join Girl Scouts of Kentucky's Wilderness Road to learn how to think like a designer by participating in three hands-on design challenges.

Girl Scouts can earn two awards on this Journey. The first one is called the "Think Like an Engineer" Journey, earned by solving problems like an engineer.

The second one is called the "Take Action" award, earned by creating a Take Action project that solves a problem in your community and uses what you've learned about engineering and technology.

For this Journey, you'll use the Design Thinking Process to Take Action. You'll work as one team with other attending Girl Scouts to identify a problem, investigate why it happens & who it impacts, brainstorm possible solutions for the problem, and then choose one solution to plan out in more detail and bring to life. After you create your Take Action Project, you'll share it with others, just like engineers.

You will complete three (3) Design Challenges for this Journey where upon completing the three means you will have earned the Think Like an Engineer Badge, too.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: March 16, 2025
COST: $30

The Take Action Project you will be completing on your own. You will receive a Google Slides link at the end of the event that will help you with planning and completing your Take Action Project.

Supply List

There are only four (4) hours to complete the design challenges, so to help things run smoother, it is asked that Girl Scouts please set up three stations in your home or wherever you will be doing the Journey beforehand so that when it's time to do each challenge all of your supplies ready to go. There will not be time to wait for everyone to gather their items, so everyone will need to have them grouped per design challenge and ready to go.

Journey badges and more can be purchased at the GSSI Shop.
