New Harmony State Historic Site welcomes all Girl Scouts to participate in their first-ever Girl Scout Day!
Tour the historic hall of Community House #2 and learn about the two utopias that lived there, as well as the renaissance of science, spirituality, and art that followed. Then, participate in their DIY Archaeology program, where girls will learn about the work of archaeologists. Much of what historians and archaeologists know today about the group who first settled in New Harmony comes from the remnants they left behind—especially their pottery. Girls will learn how archaeologists restore discovered artifacts by reconstructing their own Harmonist-inspired pottery pieces.
Girl Scouts will earn a New Harmony patch for participating!
There are two sessions to sign up for:
First session: 11 AM – 12:30 PM CDT
Second session: 1:30 PM – 3 PM CDT
