What: Girl Scouts nationwide, along with their troops, friends,
and families, celebrate their love of the outdoors by exploring the
natural wonders found across our country during the Girl Scouts Love
State Parks weekend, held this year from September 9-10, 2023.
Councils partner with 400+ state parks across the country to encourage
girls to get outdoors and enjoy self-guided tours, family hikes,
watersports, stargazing, and participate in over 550 special events
organized during the State Parks weekend, which also promotes
mobilizing our communities to pick up trash from public lands in
partnership with Pick Up America and THOR Industries.
This year, Girl Scouts of Southwest Indiana (GSSI) is excited to
partner with Lincoln State Park for the nationwide Girl Scouts Love
State Parks initiative! Discover the boyhood home of the
16th president of the United States, Abraham Lincoln.
During this event, Lincoln State Park Interpretive Naturalist, Michael
Crews, will start the day off by leading girls and their families and
friends on the historic Mr. Lincoln’s Neighborhood Walk, followed by
some fun, engaging activities led by various staff and volunteers
throughout the day.
