Tis the season for holiday parades and our Girl Scouts did not disappoint with the holiday magic they brought by participating this year! All across southwestern Indiana, troops joined in on their town’s festivities by partaking in local parades from Princeton to Newburgh to Tell City. Oh, what fun!
In Princeton, Troop 532 participated in the town’s Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 2, which was given the theme “A Fairytale Christmas.” Fittingly, the troop went with a classic fairytale, dressing up as characters from Alice in Wonderland. Their whimsical outfits and float decorations truly captured the essence of the beloved children’s story. Great job, Girl Scouts!
Four troops joined in on the fun on Sunday, December 3, by participating in the Newburgh Holiday Light Parade. Troops 316 and 410 rode a float of green lights, throwing out candy to all parade viewers along the downtown Newburgh route. These Junior Girl Scouts gave an ecstatic “YES” when asked before the start of the parade if they were excited about participating in it this year. A few girls said their troops were participating in the parade this year “to show everyone that Girl Scouts is fun” and “to represent Girl Scouts and being kind and honest.” Troops 196 and 212, local Brownie Girl Scouts, walked in the parade under the GSSI Southwest Warrick Service Unit flag, singing carols and waving to everyone they passed. Way to spread some holiday cheer and represent Girl Scouts, ladies!
Over in Tell City, Perry County girls represented Girl Scouts in the Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 2, and they did a fantastic job as they decorated their float with Girl Scout Cookie boxes, wore cookie costumes, and even had this year’s cookie season mascot, the axolotl, and Addy the Adventureful Bear show up! What a great way to remind the community that it is officially cookie season while spreading some joy. Keep up the good work, Girl Scouts!
We are so proud of our Girl Scouts for participating in these local holiday events and for spreading some love and joy this holiday season. So, whichever holiday you celebrate this time of year, we wish you a warm, happy, and safe celebration from all of us here at GSSI!
