Future Camp Leaders

The Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program is back at Camp Koch!

With two weeks of resident camp in 2027, Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors have the opportunity to build leadership skills, learn from camp staff, and discover what it takes to become a camp counselor.

Under the guidance of adult camp staff, CIT participants will:

  • Learn how to be positive role models and help campers feel welcome and included.
  • Interview, observe, and assist camp staff to explore different camp roles.
  • Practice leading songs, games, and small-group activities.
  • Create a collection of songs and games with their fellow CIT members.
  • Work together on a service project that benefits Camp Koch.
  • Participate in daily reflection, group discussions, and a final staff evaluation.

Participants who complete the program requirements and final evaluation will earn the Girl Scout CIT 1 award (level 1 of Girl Scouts’ camp leadership training).

Not a Girl Scout, but want to go to camp? You still can!

All girls are welcome at Girl Scout camp. If you’re not already a member, there’s a small membership fee that makes you an official Girl Scout for the membership year—just for camp, or more if you’d like! There’s no need to join a troop unless you want to. You can become a Girl Scout just to go to camp, take part in special events, travel, join interest-based clubs, or even earn badges on your own. It’s all about what works for you!
