Evansville, IN- Every April, Girl Scouts of Southwest Indiana hosts Women of Distinction, an annual event recognizing female leaders and organizations making positive impacts in the community. This year’s event will focus on what Girl Scouts has learned from its statewide collaboration with the six Girl Scout councils serving Indiana called the Girl Coalition of Indiana (Girl Co.). Girl Co. has completed its first annual Girl Report, which aims to understand the realities girls face in Indiana and the variances across regions. From the report, we know that girls who thrive physically, academically, emotionally, and socially can change the course of a community’s trajectory for the better. However, girls continue to experience mental health challenges, pressure to meet high academic standards, and dynamic social standards.
This year’s Women of Distinction event will focus on and uplift the individuals and organizations in our community working to improve girls' lives through Physical, Academic, Emotional, and Social Wellness.
