Darkness to Light's Stewards of Children

Stewards of Children is an evidence-informed, award-winning training that teaches adults to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. Through interviews with a diverse group of people with lived experience, experts, and treatment providers, Stewards of Children teaches adults practical actions they can take to reduce instances of child sexual abuse in their organizations, families, and communities. By reviewing the  5 Steps to Protecting Children, participants will learn to:

  • distinguish between the myths and facts of child sexual abuse;
  • engage in conversations about child sexual abuse prevention with other adults;
  • enact prevention policies where children live, learn, and play;
  • and recognize and react to boundary violations and suspected child abuse.
Stewards of Children is the flagship training from the non-profit organization Darkness to Light. Darkness to Light combines research, education, and community advocacy to pioneer new training initiatives and share best practices in child safety.
